  • What is Vice After Midnight (VAM)?

    VAM is Slate Wilder’s modern hard rock project with deep roots in 80s hair metal, hard rock, and analog synthesizers.

  • Who is Slate Wilder?

    Slate is the driving force and artist behind VAM. He currently plays electric guitar, bass, synthesizers, and films and edits all of VAM’s content.

    He grew up near Fresno, CA where he got his first shot of 80s rock by cruising in a 1980s Pontiac Trans Am, where he blasted and rattled his bones to Def Leppard at a young age.

  • What does Vice After Midnight mean?

    VAM’s name is a combination of things. For one, it’s a nod to the mood and emotion of 1980s and early 1990s TV, music, and movies.

    On the other hand, it harkens back to late nights and vices which can be interpreted personally and differently by every listener.

    Slate’s vice is crafting head banging riffs while rewatching 80s movies and TV shows.

  • Where can I listen to your music?

    VAM’s first two singles “Hot City Nights” and “On the Prowl” are streaming on all major platforms. Streaming links are available at the top of the page.

  • What are VAM's musical influences?

    VAM is inspired by the iconic hair metal guitar riffs of many artists from the 80s including Ratt, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Whitesnake, Scorpions, and Y&T.

    VAM is also influenced by the movie soundtracks of the 80s including the work of composers such as Jan Hammer, Vangelis.
